More About Jerry Scher...
Throughout Jerry's career he has facilitated Strategic Planning initiatives for a wide range of organizations and businesses. He has designed and presented training programs to company executives, sales professionals, customer service teams as well organization staff members. His primary focus is on the professional sales process, building successful sales teams, optimizing a company's business building strategies and growing revenue and profitability.

Jerry's ability to identify business growth opportunities, design plans for execution, train the team members and actually execute a plan successfully is clearly a unique capability. Wonder how someone like Jerry gets their start? Well, by age 15 Jerry was already managing staff during the summers at his family's children's sleep-away camp. He was exposed early on to the importance of team building, leadership and skills development. During these years he began to learn about business building strategies, the sales process and the impact of structure on behavior.
In addition to having administrative and operational responsibilities, he began to develop his teaching ability by teaching swimming, horseback riding and all of the typical team sports. His love for coaching began during this time.
Jerry went on to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree, a Master's Degree and a Post Graduate Certificate focused on Education and Management. He put his prior training to work as an educator and spent ten years working in the New York City School System. During that time, he taught at the middle school level, became a teacher-trainer and for the last five years directed a drug abuse prevention program for the school district.
During this time he was introduced to the basics of Organization Development, Strategic Planning Facilitation, Organizational Problem Solving Techniques, Proposal Writing and Interpersonal Communications training. Jerry not only worked with the students and teachers, but was also responsible for designing and implementing community outreach and parent counseling programs. Throughout this time Jerry continued to hone his training and coaching skills and decided it was time to test his skills in the world of business.
In 1977, Jerry took a leave of absence from his position with the NYC Board of Education and moved his family to Atlanta, Georgia to begin his next career.
Jerry was introduced to commission sales when he began selling industrial chemicals in the highly competitive Atlanta market. After a short while he joined Printers' Service/Prisco and during a thirty year career he went from sales person to a Principal of the company as well as President of the southern region. During this period, he not only built a highly successful regional distribution business, but was responsible for developing Prisco's value added sales strategies, designed and managed a nationwide sales management system and directed Prisco's highly successful training programs.
Throughout the forty years after his initial experience at camp, Jerry has continued to use his knowledge and experience of managing, coaching and training those around him. His understanding of the planning process as applied to all aspects of business, coupled with his ability to diagnose problems and his tested ability to actually execute a business plan have thoroughly prepared him to assist others in successfully building their businesses.
Jerry served as a PIAG Board member for many years and as Chairman of PIAG's Educational Foundation. He has been a speaker at numerous industry conferences and facilitates Strategic Planning Programs for many PIA affiliates. Jerry has provided sales training programs to dozens of printing companies throughout the US and has assisted hundreds of professional sales people improve their sales effectiveness.
